Test friday

Today in Human Geo we went over more of the power point on North Korea. On friday we will have a quiz on the content.
-Past rulers were Kim Il-sung, Kim Jong-il, and current leader is Kim Jong-un
-things that have happened under his ruling are
he was viewed as a god
He  establishment of “cult of personality”
The north Koreans are required to show extreme devotion to him
He has wiped out most of the religions during the early part of his rule, the state destroyed over 2000 Buddhist temples and Christian churches
Once Kim Jong-Il died people thought that his son, Kim Jong-un, would make Korea a better place but when he went into office he threatened the United States.
North Korea has the fourth biggest army in the world and they have a large amount of nukes.

Ending of Inside North Korea

Today in Human Geo we finished the documentary on North Korea. In the final portion of the movie a security guard who escaped from North Korea was interviewed and talked about the consequences that happened  because he left. He was asked to make a picture of the camp and he knew it from memory. Later it showed the blind patients who were testing their ability to see. Once they patients removed the covers from their eyes they looked at their leader and began to praise him and thank him for giving them the ability to see. Lots of people thought that these people were doing it in fear or in praise, but the video said that the Koreans might not know the difference between them.

Inside North Korea

Today in Human Geo we watched a documentary on North Korea. Since our classroom doesn't have a projector that can show movies on it we went to Mr. Schick's class to watch the movie. The documentary showed a doctor and his team that go around the world to poor countries and then they have people go through surgery to help people get rid of cataracts. But this was just a way for american journalist to get into North Korea and take video of the of the country. Things that the Americans saw was that there was a lot of pictures and portraits of Kim Jong- Il all around the capital. Also they found things that seemed funny such as a bench that was in a glass case because Kim Jong-Il sat on it. We didn't finish the video so we will probably finish the video on Friday.

Facts on North and South Korea

North Korea has an oppressive government and is a very secluded and isolated from the world.The people in North Korea do not learn the same information that we do such as social studies. They also have a controlled internet that is controlled by the government. The leader of  North Korea is Kim Jong-Un.

Exams next week

Yesterday in Human Geo we received two of our test, Cultural geography test, Feat. Five major religions and Political geography- the test. On the political geography test I got a 91 and the cultural geography test I got an 85. We reviewed over the two test and Mr. Schick said most of the exam questions would be from the tests that we had from in class. People who received a grade lower than 70 had a chance to retake the tests on Monday to get a better grade in the class. Monday in class we will be reviewing for the exam

Test tomorrow

Today was Mr. Schick's birthday and he gave everyone cookies. He was only in class for a little bit because he had an academic team tournament, So we had Mr. Kimble for a sub. Since tomorrow is our test we were allowed to either do homework or study for tomorrows test. I finished up some of my homework and studied during the class period.

Today we continued on with our cultural geography unit.

Ending... again

 Today in Human Geo since most of the students did not see the ending of the movie, we went and finished watching it. Jamal went back on the show for a chance to win 20 million rubies. At the same time, Latika was given car keys and got away from the gangsters house. Jamal called his brother and Latika picked up the phone because he needed help on the last question. she did not know the answer so Jamal chose a at random and won the 20 million rubies. After winning he went to the train station and waited for Latika. Then they kissed and the movie ended. But not without a big dance scene for the credits.

Ending

Today we watched the ending of Slum-dog millionaire. Jamal found his brother and found out that he worked for an important gang member. After following his brother he shortly found out that Latika was in sort of a relationship with the gang leader. Then Jamal went to go finish the final question for who wants to be a millionaire. The question was who was the third musketeer in the three musketeers. Jamal laughed because he considered Latika as the third musketeer. He then used his phone a friend option and Latika finally answered. She did not know the answer to the question. I had to leave for this part because I had to go to jazz band so I don't know the ending.

India vs U.S. 2

Today in Human Geo we continued to watch Slum-dog Millionaire. We saw people taking young children and they gave them food. If the children could sing good the people would blind them because the children could earn twice as much money. Jamal ran away with his brother on a train an they grew older. They ended up at the Taj Mahal and made a business there selling peoples shoes and giving fake tours. After awhile they were able to go back and find the orphaned girl that they meet earlier in their lives. Jamal's brother had a gun and after killing someone he was not scared to kill anyone else. This showed of and then got him a job.

India vs. U.S.

Today we watched Slum-dog Millionaire and Mr. Schick asked us to compare what to our daily lives in America. In India there is just piles of trash every where, in the river and all around there town, more than America. They was there clothes in the river with the trash and the trash and children was themselves in the river.There schools are over crowded and the teachers are abusive. The police torture people to get information and treat their citizens poorly. the children will give anything to get small amounts of money(showing how poor they are he sold and expensive autograph for two coins). All in all India s far more corrupt when compared to America.

Sub

Today we had a substitute teacher so we did not learn anything today. Instead we were supposed to finish our extra credit assignment for the Spotify songs. I already found songs yesterday so I was allowed to work on homework. I finished some homework during class and added some more songs for the spotify assignment.

New Unit

Today in Human Geo we got to see what its like to be on an academic team. Mr. Schick told us that john carroll won 1st place in the tournament and then we did a little tournament in class. After that was over we received our test back and two people got A's. One of the people who got an A was me, I got a 90%. After everyone got back their grades, we began a new unit on cultural geography. We began it by looking at a map of the United States and it showed what Soft drinks are called in what regions of the united states. Some of the students thought it was weird that Soft drinks were called coke in the south. Then Mr. Schick talked about how weird it is to do crab feast and eating from a crabs carcass instead of just getting the meat already taking out of the crab.

Test today

Today we had a test in Human Geo. It was on all the governments and the information on the leaders. I don't think that I did good on that test because I did not know some information on some of the country leaders. I hope that I did good on this test along with everyone else in my class. There was multiple choice questions along with an essay at the end of the test. The Essay question was "why is it wrong to kill the president in a democracy like the US's. I thought this was kinda funny because Mr. Schick was expressing all week that killing is not always the answer. Also people continued to say it was the quickest way. I think that is why it was an essay question. The multiple choice had questions about the leaders of countries and how they run their countries, along with questions about things that went on in certain countries.

Today we were supposed to have a test but the links on the slide were not working. Since we did not have the test we continued presenting our projects. The group that continued presenting was Russia. --Dmitry Medvedev is the prime minister and was the president when Putin was the prime minister.
