Day 5
Today in Human Geo, Mr. Schick was telling us
about recent topics discussed in Human Geo.
He was telling us more about A Message to Garcia and a little bit more
of the background of the story. Mr.
Schick explained to us that A Message to Garcia was a metaphor that society
needs a Rowan that will deliver a Message to Garcia. This means that a person will get their job
done, when it’s needed, without making excuses.
Mr. Schick also told us that this essay was in newspapers and became so
popular that 80 million copies were made.
Some factories and other workplaces would use the essay in their brochures
to motivate workers to send a Message to Garcia. I enjoyed the story and how a Message to
Garcia can motivate people to send Message to Garcia. Mr. Schick also showed us the last elections
for the United States and a few other countries. I was surprised to see the United States had
the lowest voting population then the other countries shown, even though
America has a lot of freedom to allow people to vote.
